HallMark's Head of Imports Honoured at Prestigious City of London Event
An Evening of Distinction at City of London Event
HallMark Veterinary & Compliance Services is proud to announce that our Head of Imports, Luis Castromil, was recently honoured with an invitation to a distinguished dinner hosted by the Chair of the Port Health and Environmental Services Committee of the City of London Corporation. The event took place on Thursday, 1st February 2024, at the historic Butchers' Hall, located in the heart of London.
An Evening of Recognition
The black-tie event served as a platform for networking and collaboration among leaders from government, industry, port health, and embassies. It underscored the partnership between HallMark and the City of London in upholding the highest standards of public health, animal health, and welfare in port operations. The evening was themed around "Collaboration, Challenge, and Change," with discussions on how embracing these elements can lead to stronger and more efficient public services.
The Port Health and Environmental Services Committee is instrumental in overseeing a broad spectrum of critical areas, including environmental health, trading standards, and animal health, which encompasses the Heathrow Animal Reception Centre. Their responsibilities also extend to licensing, public conveniences, street cleansing, refuse collection, and the management of the City of London Cemetery and Crematorium.
The City of London's jurisdiction over port health functions along the tidal Thames, including major ports such as Tilbury, Thamesport, Sheerness, London City Airport, and London Gateway, makes this recognition especially significant. It underscores the partnership between HallMark and the City of London in ensuring the highest standards of public health, animal health and animal welfare in port operations.
Insights from Industry Leaders
Attendees had the privilege of hearing from the chairman about the importance of embracing collaboration, challenges, and change within their services. Additionally, Grace Rawnsley, Director of Sustainability at the Port of London Authority (PLA), shared insights on how the Thames has shaped London's past, present, and future, highlighting the river's ongoing impact on the city and its industries.
A Night to Remember
Reflecting on the evening, Luis Castromil shared, "Thank you, City of London Port Health, for inviting HallMark to an amazing evening at Butcher’s Hall. I spent a wonderful time meeting extraordinary people from so many different backgrounds. It was incredible!"
The evening was filled with great food and fantastic company, providing a unique opportunity to discuss future collaborations and initiatives aimed at enhancing the import sector's efficiency and compliance with animal health, public health and environmental standards.
