The UK's new border control regime is now fully operational

HallMark Veterinary & Compliance Services is at the forefront, ensuring that the latest Sanitary and Phytosanitary (SPS) checks are expertly managed. As the UK implements comprehensive import controls post-Brexit, HallMark's specialised veterinary services play a crucial role in maintaining high standards of safety and compliance for Products of Animal Origin (POAO) at all major Border Control Posts (BCPs) and Port Health Authorities (PHAs).

Background

Three years post-Brexit, the UK's new border control regime is now in full effect. Following the introduction of the Border Target Operating Model (BTOM) in August 2023, comprehensive Sanitary and Phytosanitary (SPS) checks started on April 30, 2024. HallMark Veterinary & Compliance Services has been pivotal in preparing for these changes, leveraging our Portal Official Veterinarian (Portal OV) Import Control Services to ensure safety and compliance for Products of Animal Origin (POAO) at major UK Border Control Posts (BCPs) and Port Health Authorities (PHAs).

Implementation of New Controls

In line with the BTOM, HallMark has played an essential role during the transition to comprehensive SPS checks, preparing UK PHAs and BCPs to meet stringent UK and EU regulations. Our tailored veterinary inspection services ensure all imports are thoroughly inspected and compliant, addressing challenges such as adapting to new digital reporting systems and coordinating multi-agency responses.

Team Expansion and Onsite Success

To manage the new BTOM demands, we've expanded our team of professional veterinarians, who have rapidly adapted to the regulatory changes and collaborated effectively across teams. Their commendable work at various BCPs showcases our readiness and expertise in handling the new import control checks. We are still looking to grow our team and invite skilled veterinarians who are eager to make a significant impact to reach out via recruitment@vorenta.com. Join us in maintaining UK border integrity!
