HallMark Veterinary & Compliance Services urgently requires 20 Border Control Officers to work with the Animal and Plant Health Agency (APHA) at various ports throughout England. Role Summary
The successful candidates will work as part of a shift pattern delivering physical inspections of plants, planting material and produce in the Border Control Points and inspection centres. These import controls exist to prevent harmful plant pests from entering GB from third countries. In addition, Border Control Inspectors carry out both Documentary and ID checks on import applications and accompanying certification. Inspections on fresh produce in relation to marketing standards are also be conducted.

Vacancies: 20 Border Control Officers
Shift Work: working as part of a rota (including nights, at Sevington and Harwich)
Deployment Period: From 26th February 2024 to 24th February 2025 (potential extension).
Locations: Humber, Felixstowe, Harwich and Sevington.
Responsibilities Include:
Conducting physical inspections and ensuring compliance with import regulations.
Performing Documentary and ID checks on import applications and accompanying certification.
Managing customer expectations and liaising with various regulatory bodies.
Providing support and guidance on procedures and policies.
Requirements
Education: Minimum GCSE/O level or equivalent in English, Maths, and a science subject.
IT Literacy: Proficiency in MS Office and comfortable with online applications.
Communication Skills: Ability to communicate complex issues clearly.
Driving License: Full, valid UK driving license and access to own transport.
Flexibility: Willingness to participate in shift rota for 24/7 operations.
Have an interest in Horticulture, Agriculture or the environment.
