Join DEFRA's Research Initiative to Enhance Veterinary Export Health Certification Processes

APHA Calls for Export Vets to Shape the Future of Export Certification

In a significant move towards enhancing the export certification process, the Animal and Plant Health Agency (APHA) has issued Briefing Note 04/24, extending an open invitation to Official Veterinarians and Food Competent Certifying Officers across Great Britain to participate in pivotal Defra research. This initiative aims to gather valuable insights to simplify and improve the certification process for exports, marking a step forward in refining veterinary services and compliance measures in the agrifood sector.

A Collaborative Effort for Simplification

Understanding the complexities and challenges faced by certifiers in navigating export regulations and the use of paper certificates, Defra has embarked on projects to streamline these processes. However, the success of these endeavours hinges on the active participation and feedback from those at the heart of the certification process – the certifiers themselves.

How You Can Contribute

APHA and Defra are seeking involvement in various forms of research, including interviews, surveys, and usability testing of digital services. This research is designed to delve into the certifiers' experience, identifying areas for enhancement and simplification. Your participation will provide invaluable insights that could lead to significant improvements in the export certification process.

Participate in the Research

If you're an Official Veterinarian or a Food Competent Certifying Officer in Great Britain and are interested in contributing to this important research, please take a moment to fill in the form linked below.
